The aim of the festival was to acquaint citizens with human rights issues through the medium of film, and thus promote public awareness and understanding of Africa’s social concerns within a global perspective.

10 days full of international and Ethiopian documentaries, films, short movies and international guests. The 2nd Addis International Film Festival has turned Ethiopia’s capital again into a glimmering festival town. Films on the topic ‘Organizing the Unorganized’ will engage the audience with women’s, children’s and worker’s rights and its prevailing injustice in Ethiopia, Africa and in the world. Success of the 1st edition of Addis International Film Festival (AIFF) has encouraged us to turn it into a yearly recurring event. The second edition was bigger in size and scope than the first edition. More films were screened in town and in selected cities all through the country. Moreover, many activities was accompanying the festival.

The goal of the Addis International Film Festival on Rights and Justice was to create an inspiring vision that will help Ethiopia’s civil society to move towards a desirable future and help supporting by ‘Organizing the Unorganized’.

As the only festival of this kind in our region, The Addis International Film festival was healed in March, for 10 exciting festival days on Rights and Justice.

The goal of the Addis International Film Festival on Rights and Justice, an innovative project set up by Initiative Africa, an Ethiopian based NGO promoting human rights and capacity building, is to create awareness on diverse international social issues, help create an inspiring vision that will help Ethiopia’s civil society to move towards a desirable future and encourage documentary film making in Ethiopia.
